Research

The Congregation of the Sisters of Charity JM is a typical example of the many women Congregations who started in the 19th century and played a pioneering role in the field of education, health care, and missionary activities. The Sisters of Charity JM grew into one of the largest religious institutions of the country.

Therefore, our collection lends itself to a wide range of research areas: history of religious life and of women religious, mentality history, social history of education and health care, mission history, gender studies, history of institutions, genealogy and local history.

Not only historians, but also art historians, sociologists, educators, anthropologists, archivists and scholars of religious studies are well looked after.

This is also reflected in the many studies and papiers already written in recent years about the Sisters of Charity and their activities at home and abroad.

The Heritage House does its own research and provides publications. You can find these publications in our ‘shop’.
